Online backup storage

Where do you store your pics online?

I had a 30 day trial of carbonite.com and was going to pay for it. I sent them a few emails and it has been 2 WEEKS, they never replied! So they are being crossed off and going off my list.

I am thinking about trying mozy.com. I have to check their website if there is any trials.

Update 12/16/08: Thank you to everyone who replied. I have not had a chance to re-try carbonite yet. I have not had a chance to try memeo. I am currently trying out mozy.com but I sent them an email on Sunday and stil have not rec’v a reply. I just re-emailed them.

  1. Jess,

I’m really sorry to hear this. Did you send the e-mails to customersupport @ carbonite.com? Either way, please send me a note – you can send it to customersupport @ carbonite.com with “attn: LEN” in the subject line – and I’ll get to the bottom of why you did not receive a response. We do not ignore e-mais and usually reply within a couple of days. Support is also available at http://www.carbonite.com/chat if you want a faster response.

Once again, I’m very sorry about your experience, and look forward to getting to the bottom of it.

    Sincerely,

    Len Pallazola

  2. You should try my company’s photo sharing software called Memeo Share. Aside from making it possible to send your full-res photos and videos to your friends and families, it can also serve as a backup for those files. When I was setting up something similar to what you are talking about I pointed the client to “My Pictures”, which had about 10GBs of data (at the time) and I just let it all upload. When I added new photos to “My Pictures”, the photos were automatically backed up online. You can do this with an external drive as well, it is incredibly simple and if you want to just test it first, the service is free up to 1GB. After that, it is $4.95 a month

  3. It’s doubtful that Len can save the day every time Carbonite’s support sucks. Memeo’s comparable service (not the photo/video sharing thing, surely you back up more than photos and videos) is $500 a year for 50GB of storage space. Mozy is $4.95/month for UNLIMITED storage space. Mozy also offers a free 2 GB account so you can easily try out their service without making any commitments. Looks like you’re on the right track by choosing Mozy.
