J2

Reflux, Dream feeder, Bottle refuser, Failure to Thrive

J2 is my sweet little guy that is “little brother” to J2 and “big brother” to J3.

Born at 37 weeks, 2 days at 5 pounds, 8 ounces he was healthy at birth.

Soon after their birth via C-section, I was transferred to the recovery room where they hooked me up to a Mag Sulfate drip tdue to my pre-e. I was told it would make me nauseous. My mom and a nurse brought the boys to see me and then we parted ways to that the boys could take their first bath and I would go to our room. BIG MISTAKE! I started coughing, throwing up and getting a fever. Unfortunately it was the height of the big bird flu scare and the doctors on call thought we had it! They put me in isolation and the boys in NICU isolation. J1 was OK but J2 had blood work showing elevations and the drs did a spinal tap on him. And of course… we didn’t have the bird flu!

After all we been thru, I was seperated from my boys from the first 2-3 days of their lives! J1 was released the 2nd evening and J2 on the 3rd afternoon. We went home on the 4th day!

At their 15 month checkup, J2 was told to be in the 5 percentile for height and weight! He was 21 pounds at that exam. That is up from 1% at the 10 month checkup when he started to refuse to drink his formula during the day
He is underweight.

Reflux – diagnosed at 3 weeks

Currently talking Prevacid Solutabs 15 mg, 2 times a day (morning and night)
Was talking Zantac from 3 weeks to 10 months when it stopped working.
Briefly tried Prilosec at 10 months but it gave him a body rash.

Bottle refuser and Failure to Thrive

Diagnosed at 10 months when he stopped taking his formula bottles during the day. We now have to dream feed him his bottles at night.

He takes at night :
Eight 2 oz bottles of Nutramigen and Pediasure (1 oz Nutramigen and 1 oz Pediasure)
Four 4 oz bottles of juice (3 oz of Gerber white grape juice and prune combination and 1 oz water)

Any tips or suggestions on how to help fatten J2 up, resolve his reflux, bottle refusal or FTT would be appreciated!
